Dear All,
It is indeed a wonderful privilege to have you all gathered here at HEDECS to share this precious moments with us.
Thanks to the juveniles that we are all here today. We are celebrating you and without you this occasion would not have been taking place.
It is a year now that the EU funded project: Juvenile Justice Reform: Diversion; Alternatives to detention; humane incarceration and reintegration of children in Bamenda went operational. It is an interesting single project with three partners and three components. Legal Reform-CHRAPA, Advocacy-BCC and Diversion-HEDECS. We thank the EU for believing in us and funding the project. For without them, we would not have been celebrating the juveniles
By adding value to the EU funded project, we say thanks to HEDECS who has financed the activities of this day because it wants to share quality time with the juveniles who had been in conflict with the law whom we consider very important persons in our communities. In your eyes we see your pain, sufferings, frustrations and anxieties as well as your resilience to become a different person, your hope and your determination to be rehabilitated and reintegrated. All of these have tested our abilities, stretch us to the limit, given us renewed strength and hope. We say we believe in you and off course you can make it and will make it to new educational, leadership and entrepreneurial positions in this your present life time.
The justice and prison departments, MINAS, MINPROF, NCSAPD, the different placement sites such as NACHO, LCC and Progressive Modern furniture are hear present to testify of the new you of today and tomorrow and to pledge their continued support in the process. We join the juveniles to say thank you
Other project partners CHRAPA and BCC are putting in enormous efforts in this process in their respective project domains that has contributed to the gains we have achieved so far. Let us thank them.
Jonathan’s House has brought in the much needed spiritual dimension that heals us internally so that we can truly be reborn in a holistic way. To God be the glory
The families and friends have accompanied us in the process and without your support standing by your children, we would not be celebrating now.
For those juveniles who are not compliant, who are not regular and slip through our fingers, we encourage you to come back because you can make it and it is not late. You need to be celebrated too. For those who are yet to be in the diversion system, we are anxiously and hopefully waiting to work with you.
To God, we cannot thank Him enough for everything and we trust that His grace will take us all to the next level.
This is Christmas the season of joy, love, peace and reconciliation. So let the celebrations begin!!!
